The Seminar marked the UN International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict on November 6. On Monday 21st July 2003 Bromley Peace Council was re-formed at a meeting of representatives and individuals interested in promoting peace activism within the community .
We will do this by promoting information, communications and supporting the activists in the very difficult job of awakening the many people who think that there is no place for 'ordinary people' in influencing events.
At local, national and international level, even in so called democracies, governments are not responsive to its citizens demands, where they oppose the powerful forces of national and international business and commerce.

About Us:-

About Us:-

The previous Bromley Peace Council closed down when the leading activists were unable to continue it's administration.
It has been started again by a loose network of people, from many different backgrounds and personal beliefs. Prominent among them people already active within the peace movement, organisations such as CND*, WILPF* and CAW* whose prime purpose is campaigning for peace. Others such as political and religious activists, take part in peace promotion within their parties or churches, and secular humanists who see their fight against sectarianism and organised religion as promoting peace. Also represented was a recognition of, and appreciation of, the work of the previous Bromley Peace Council
We ALL support peacefully negotiated conflict resolution, fair and objective arbitration of conflict, and responsive democratic government that does not support prejudice and discriminate against dissident individuals or groups.

Opinion and Ideas

Opinion and Ideas

This is a space for supporters to say something about their particular perspective, motivation or activity etc.

These can be short statements here, or if longer put on as links.

Secular Humanists believe that superstition and sectarianism are major causes of conflict in the world today as they were in the past. As with most activities, secular humanists work with other secular organisations working towards peace. We also work directly in countering conflict by persuading people that peaceful solutions are reached by rational, evidence based negotiated solutions, and that rigid ideological beliefs that prevent such solutions should be the method of choice for modern human beings.
